PRESS STATEMENT

RELEASE OF NOVEMBER 2025 ADVANCED LEVEL EXAMINATION RESULTS
Introduction
The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council Board and Management would like to advise the nation of the release of the November 2025 Advanced Level examination results.
The examination results will be available online today, Friday 9th of January 2026, from 1600hours. Candidates’ results will be accessible to all candidates through the ZIMSEC portal link https://results.zimsec.co.zw/ using correct details as per the issued Zimsec statement of entry.
Please note that the portal will be open for 5 days, thereafter candidates should access the results from their respective Examination Centres.
Heads of Examination Centres are advised to collect their results from their respective Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education Provincial Directors from Monday, 19th of January 2026.
Entry and the Pass Rate
The total number of candidates who sat for the November 2025 Advanced Level examination was 36 635 compared to 33 585 in 2024. This translates to an increase of 3 050 candidates yielding a percentage increase of 9.08.
In November 2025, 36 282 candidates wrote two or more subjects. Of these, 34 740 obtained Grade E or better in two or more subjects. This translates to a pass rate of 95.75%.
In comparison, 33 246 candidates wrote two or more subjects in November 2024 and 31 443 obtained Grade E or better in two or more subjects translating to a pass rate of 94.58%.
The national pass rate for 2025, therefore, increased marginally by 1.17%.
School Candidates
The total number of school candidates who sat for November 2025 was 31 451 while in 2024 the number was 29 041.
31 296 candidates wrote two or more subjects in November 2025. Of these, 30 169 obtained Grade E or better in two or more subjects achieving a percentage pass rate of 96.39. In comparison, 29 041 candidates wrote two or more subjects in November 2024 and, 27 509 obtained Grade E or better in two or more subjects, yielding a percentage pass rate of 95.18.
The pass rate for the November 2025 school candidates increased by 1.21%.
Private Candidates
The total number of private candidates who sat for the November 2025 examination was 5 234, while in 2024 the number was 4 544.
5 036 candidates wrote two or more subjects in November 2025. Of these, 4 571 obtained Grade E or better in two or more subjects, achieving a percentage pass rate of 90.77. In comparison, 4 346 candidates wrote two or more subjects in November 2024. Of these, 3 934 obtained a Grade E or better in two or more subjects, which translated to a percentage pass rate of 90.52.
The 2025 pass rate for private candidates increased by 0.25 percentage points.
The total number of female candidates who sat for the November 2025 Advanced level examination was 19 086 as compared to 17 306 who sat in November 2024.
18 321 female candidates passed two or more subjects in November 2025, yielding a pass rate of 96.83%. In comparison, 16 457 candidates passed two or more subjects in November 2024 yielding a percentage pass rate of 95.94. The 2025 pass rate for female candidates increased by 0.89 percentage points.
The total number of male candidates who sat for two or more subjects was 17 599 of which 16 419 passed two or more subjects, translating to a percentage pass rate of 94.19. In comparison, 16 092 male candidates passed two or more subjects in November 2024, yielding a percentage pass rate of 93.13. The 2025 pass rate for male candidates increased by 1.06%.
Female candidates performed better than male candidates by 2.64%.
Special Needs Candidates
The total number of special needs candidates who sat for the November 2025 examinations was 45. These candidates all wrote two or more subjects and all of them passed with a Grade E or better, yielding a pass rate of 100%. In comparison, the total number of special needs candidates in November 2024 was 40. These candidates wrote two or more subjects, and 38 obtained Grade E or better, yielding a pass rate of 95%. This translates to an increase in the pass rate of 5% in 2025.
The candidates were in two different categories, namely; those with
- low vision that required enlarged print; and
- physical impairment and hearing impairment requiring administrative accommodation.
Conclusion
We extend our gratitude to all those who were involved in the November 2025 Advanced Level examination processes, with a special mention to the school administrators, teachers, markers, our parent Ministry, state security agencies, and ZIMSEC staff for their hard work and dedication, which resulted in the successful running of these examinations. This was achieved by working with a common purpose.
