JOB SUMMARY
The incumbent shall oversee the development and production of valid error free question papers and provide fair assessment of candidates’ performance. This position reports to the Director Test, Design, Educational, Assessment and Measurement.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
THE INCUMBENT SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Item Writing
- Commissioning item writers and set parameters for item writers
- Providing guidance and advice to item writers on item writing
- Ensuring adherence to item writing rules to develop reliable and valid items
- Supervising and manage the moderation of items
Question Paper Development
- Compiling question papers for ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level from valid moderated items
- Proofreading constructed draft question papers and submitting for banking and typing
- Supervising vetting and proofreading by vetters and proofreaders
- Participating in panel proofreading
Marking
- Construction of marking team structures
- Preparing script apportionment schedules
- Supervising script selection
- Supervising National coordination meetings
- Appointing mark capturers and verifiers and activate them during marking
- Monitoring marking for adherence to set standards and the production of Principal Marking Supervisor’s report
- Preparing grading tool kits and manage the awarding of grades to candidates’ work
Training of Examiners
- Identification of examiner training needs and submitting to Human Capital Department
- Selection of potential trainees and trainers
- Supervision of training and assessment of trainee examiners
- Generating circulars on prescribed texts
- Participation in the development of syllabuses
- Attending to queries relating to subjects being managed
- Participate in research and engage in intellectual discourse
- Organizing and securing resources required for subject management
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education Management
- A relevant Master’s Degree
- At least 3 years teaching and marking experience
- Teaching skills,
- Assessment Skills
- Analytical skills for data and soft skills
